at the Origin
AI can expand what we do.
We should still be able to shape why.
As AI becomes part of everyday thinking, care, and connection, the person should remain able to guide its purpose, correct its account, set its limits, and choose when to step away.
What it means to
stay at the origin.
Our purposes, experiences, permissions, corrections, and refusals should remain ours to express and revise.
People can change.
What mattered yesterday may need another look today. A useful assistant should leave room for a new direction.
Corrections should count.
A summary should preserve the difference between what a person said and what a system inferred.
Participation is a choice.
Assistance should make room for limits, disagreement, and meaningful nonuse.
Ideas to spend time with.
Experiments taking shape.
Explore writing and conversations about human agency, relationships, imagination, and AI. Or take a more playful route through a collection of small mathematical worlds.
An idea under development.
Human at the Origin is a conceptual formulation developed by Grant H Brenner within his broader DOAIE work. It draws on established conversations about human-centered AI, shared decision-making, and personal agency.
Human at the Origin LLC is exploring how the principle might inform responsible technology and research.
